IMPLANT DENTISTRY

A dental implant is a artificial tooth root made of titanium. It allows us to replicate the whole tooth structure when we can not save your natural tooth. It looks, feels, and even functions like your natural tooth!  When needed, multiple implants can even be placed to restore a series of missing teeth! The videos below demonstrate both procedures.

After we ensure that sufficient bone is present at the desired site, we begin by placing the implant into the upper or lower jaw site. A healing period of 3-6 months follows placement of the implant. During this time, the implant fuses with your jaw. After verifying successful integration, we take an impression to create your custom tooth!

The ADVANTAGES of Dental Implants Include:

-Stabilization of adjacent teeth. The space from a missing tooth can cause adjacent teeth to shift and change your bite. The resulting shift can cause an interference that affects your ability to chew, and also make tooth replacement difficult in the future. In addition, a poor bite affects your TMJ, leading to soreness and discomfort in the joint.

-Dental implants behave like natural teeth and help restore your full ability to chew. You no longer have to favor one side because more teeth are present on a single side. Teeth will also wear more evenly as you begin to chew with both sides, preventing the acceleration of problems on over-used teeth!

-Implants provide a superior chewing experience by fixating a denture in place. Dentures that move result in poor chewing ability and dietary restrictions.
